PArt of the article says no company contracted the Yankee Group to do the study. I call bullshit, no company just decides to an expensive survey and then release the results.

Politics

Some 15 years ago, I predicted that the Government of Mexico would begin taking over the United States with a calculated invasion tactic. People then, in my letters to the editor laughed at the idea… this from the El Paso Times in El Paso, Texas which has already been taken over. Our own elected politicians with the exception of “true Americans” Senator Kyle and definitely Sheriff Arpiao are blinded by what is happening. Mexico is already beginning to dictate policy here in the U.S. and as time goes on and more of the illegals take over here, it will become demands by the Mexican Government to do away with the border entirely. This was one of the platform ideas of one Mayoral candidate in El Paso… with the then over 14,000 illegals going to school there without any tax inputs, the border eradication would have driven out the “real” Americans in favor of Mexicans moving in to El Paso where taxes are skyrocketing and the economy reeling from the affects of school/hospital/social welfare payments as more and mo (...MORE)

Interesting

From grammar and punctuation to the Bible and styrofoam eels to testing the tensile strength of cat-5 cable, Alexis has an opinion about everything - and she spells it all out in her Fark user profile. Believe it or not, it is well written and interesting enough to be worth reading. At least I thought so - I'm sure some will disagree.

VERY INTERESTING!
Hosting a poker game at your house is considered operating a gambling house. This is a 3rd Degree Felony! Penalties will vary within each state.
DON'T HOLD THE GAME AT YOUR HOUSE!!!!

Games

This article isn't quite accurate, it lists "Space War" as the very first game in history, which isn't *quite* true, but this is close enough.

Bonus: Believe it or not, Space War wasn't a terribly bad game. You can still play it here:
http://lcs.www.media.mit.edu/groups/el/projects/spacewar/

Course, these days, you can also play it on your calculator:

Tidbit: The first game that could be played outside of a labratory was "Computer Space". You could see it in "Soylent Green" when Charlton Heston went to invetigate the rich guy's house. The girls were doing hits of whatever it was and playing the game. The cabinet was absolutely unbelievable! Read and see all about "Computer Space" here:

Conspiracy

This time it's called SIRA - and would make even 'incidental' copies of music and other copyrighted content illegal without a license. You know, stuff like the data in your browser cache, or on a radio station's queue tapes.

Funny

That good ol' Monty Python humour just never gets stale. Does it? To this day, I can still sit through 'Holy Grail', 'Life of Brian' or especially 'Meaning of Life', and just bust up laughing. Maybe I'm a nerd.

Well, amusing anyway. Nice, not so much. Kind of sounds like the type of stuff you'll find around here. From Bash.org.

Technology

WAAAaaayyy before Apple tried to make fashion statements, other computer companies tried heart and soul to make something that would be the "best".

My first computer truly was - in an actually meaningful way - the best.

Notice the stylishly futuristic design!

This computer had 4K of RAM, a built in Black and White monitor and a ROM based operating system which included an early version of BASIC!!! The entire face plate lifted up like the hood of a car!

As if all of that wasn't enough, the computer was FAR ahead of it's time (at least in terms of what I could afford) in that it had STORAGE!

Now let me explain. Back in the day, you didn't just launch a program to run it. You had to somehow get the program INTO the machine, which by the mid seventies pretty much meant that every time you wanted to run your app, you had to re-type it in. A HUGE improvement over pumch cards and other schemes, as far as that went.

... but my computer had a CASSETTE P (...MORE)
